AnalytiX Dashboard on Odoo 18: A Complete Rebuild with AI at Its Core

We migrated AnalytiX Dashboard to Odoo 18 — a full rebuild with an AI dashboard builder, five data sources, a built-in to-do widget, and smart KPI alerts. Here's what changed and why it matters for your business.

1. Introduction to Modern Odoo Dashboards

A business dashboard should do more than show numbers — it should tell you what's happening and help you decide what to do next. When someone opens a dashboard, they shouldn't have to export records, build pivot tables, or wait on an analyst. They should see clear answers right away.

That's the idea behind the newly rebuilt AnalytiX Dashboard on Odoo 18. This isn't a small version update. It's a complete rebuild (v18.0.4.0.0) with a modern interface, better performance, and a whole new AI and data layer. Everything from the classic drag-and-drop builder is still here — now supercharged with AI generation, new data sources, task management, and smart alerts.

In this post, I'll walk through what changed, what each feature does, and why it matters for your business.

2. The AI Dashboard Builder

The biggest change in this release is the AI Dashboard Builder. Instead of manually configuring every chart, you just describe what you want in plain language — something like "sales performance by team this year" — and the AI builds a complete, balanced dashboard for you in seconds. KPIs, statistics, charts, and lists, all arranged neatly on a grid.

Here's how the flow works, step by step:

  • Describe it — Type what you need in plain words. The AI guesses the correct Odoo model from your keywords.
  • Refine — The AI rewrites your rough request into a clear, professional brief and suggests card titles. You pick the ones you want, add your own, or generate more.
  • Choose scale — Select the dashboard size (10–12, 15–20, or 20–25 widgets), and the AI plans a healthy mix of KPIs, stats, charts, and lists.
  • Generate — Every item is created, validated against the models you actually have installed, and auto-arranged. You can tweak anything afterward.

There's also an AI Item Creator for growing a dashboard one widget at a time, and AI summaries that let any widget explain itself in plain language — including a full insight report with prioritized recommendations, available in 8 languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Hindi, Arabic, and Chinese).

3. Connect Data From Anywhere

In older dashboard tools, you were usually locked into Odoo models only. The rebuilt version gives you five ways to power a widget, so you can pull data from wherever it actually lives:

  • Model Based — Standard Odoo ORM with measures, group-by, sub-group-by, date granularity (minute to year), sorting, and Sum/Count/Average.
  • SQL Query — Write read-only SQL and map the result columns to your chart or KPI, with a live preview as you go.
  • External REST API — Pull JSON from any endpoint using custom (encrypted) headers and column mapping.
  • Excel Upload — Upload a workbook, pick the sheet, auto-detect the columns, map them, and sync into a live table.
  • CSV Upload — Import CSV files with header options, column mapping, and sync-status tracking.

This means a single dashboard can mix live Odoo data, a direct database query, an external service, and a spreadsheet your team maintains — all in one place.

4. A Built-In To-Do Widget

Dashboards are where teams look every day, so it makes sense to manage work right there. The new To-Do widget turns any dashboard into a lightweight task board — no extra app required.

You get list or Kanban views, with public or personal visibility, and five clear statuses: To-Do, On Progress, In Review, Done, and Cancelled. Tasks support deadlines, sequencing, and multi-user assignment, and you can drag and drop them across Kanban columns. When someone is assigned a task, they get an automatic email — so nothing slips through the cracks.

5. Smart Alerts, Real-Time Updates & Collaboration

A good dashboard should keep everyone in the loop, not just display data and go quiet. This release adds three things that do exactly that:

  • KPI Goal Alerts — The moment a KPI hits its target, the system emails your chosen recipients automatically. It also de-duplicates, so the alert only fires once instead of spamming inboxes.
  • Scheduled + real-time checks — A background job re-checks goals every 30 minutes alongside instant checks, so you never miss a milestone.
  • Live dashboard refresh — When items, filters, or themes change, dashboards refresh automatically for anyone viewing them online.

There's also Discuss integration: every widget can open its own chat channel named after the dashboard and item, so your team can talk about exactly what they're looking at — and even post a rendered snapshot of the widget straight into the chat.

6. Make It Match Your Brand

An interface only feels high-end when it looks like yours. AnalytiX Dashboard ships with strong theming and appearance controls so every dashboard fits your brand:

  • Color themes (Custom, Light, Dark) with 6-color palettes.
  • Auto-palette from your logo — it extracts your brand colors for you.
  • Dedicated palette widgets for charts, KPIs, statistics, lists, and icons.
  • Per-item styling — backgrounds, font colors, display styles, font sizes, and opacities, all adjustable per widget.
  • RTL and responsive — works right-to-left and adapts cleanly to any screen size, with a sleek dark mode on Odoo Enterprise.

7. Sharing, Exporting & Portability

Finally, the data shouldn't be stuck inside one screen. The rebuilt module makes it easy to move, share, and export everything:

  • Public sharing & embed — Generate a tokenized public link, copy an iframe embed code, and serve a standalone embed page.
  • PDF export — Export the full dashboard, individual widgets, and even the AI summaries to PDF.
  • XLSX export — Send a widget's underlying data straight to Excel.
  • Import / Export — Export a whole dashboard to JSON, or a ZIP bundle with uploaded files and encrypted API secrets. Re-import to any database and all references are re-mapped automatically.

8. A Note on Migrating

One important thing if you're already on an older version: this release is a completely rebuilt module and is not compatible with the previous version. Simply upgrading the old module can cause installation or database issues, so a fresh install is required.

The safe path is straightforward:

  1. Back up your database (strongly recommended).
  2. Export your existing dashboards, if needed.
  3. Uninstall the old AnalytiX Dashboard module.
  4. Install the new version.
  5. Re-import your dashboards.

Conclusion

The Odoo 18 rebuild of AnalytiX Dashboard turns data analytics into something everyone in a company can actually use. With AI building your dashboards, five data sources feeding them, task management and smart alerts keeping teams aligned, and clean export and sharing options, raw Odoo data finally becomes clear, fast, confident decision-making.

If you're on Odoo and struggling to get real answers out of your data, this rebuild is well worth a look.
